„Hello Collin!” she said and made one step back.
„What’s wrong with you?”
„What a coincidence. I was just about to ask you the same fucking question. What the fuck is wrong with you, Collin? Are you crazy? Brainwashed? What the fuck happened with your decency?”
„Are you drunk? You smoked crack? Why are you asking me this stupid questions?”
„Why??? Let me tell you why Mr. Henderson.”
„You never called me by my last name. You’re mad…”
„Of course I’m mad. I’m angry, furious, jealous… call it as you wish.”
„But what have I done?”
„I think you know. And you know it very well.”
„What? I don’t know…” and suddenly he turned white as a sheet of paper.
„See… your face betrays you. Every time you lie your face turns white. And your eyes turn black. I guess you never had the curiosity to look at yourself in a mirror every time you say a lie. But… you can’t lie to yourself, right?”
He lowed his look.
„I know, Collin… I know. I know everything.” and tears were falling out of her eyes.
„Oh… Aleesha… I’m sorry… I’m very, very sorry!” he said in tears. He took her hands in his, but he was shaking. „I know I’ve made a terrible mistake. I know it and I’m sorry!”
„What’s done can never be changed. You can’t turn back time. Do you have the smallest idea of how I am feeling right now?” He nodded a „no”. „I feel as if I were the last person on Earth. All I want right now is to go somewhere far, where nobody knows me, to forget about everything. To forget about YOU!”
„Please forgive me, Aleesha! That’s all I’m asking you right now.”
She started laughing.
„To forgive you? It’s so easy to say. But it’s so hard to fulfill.”
„All I want from you is to forgive me.”
„I forgive you Collin. Because I love you. Because I’m addicted to you. But will they forgive ME? Will they spare me from their stupid jokes? Because they know too. And I feel so stupid. I feel like somebody stabbed me from the back with a poisoned dagger.”
He looked deep into her eyes and tried to say something. She stood up and said.
„I’ve had enough for today. Until I make a decision, please have the balls and try NOT to call me. I need time to decide. I don’t think you’re unworthy, because I know you better than you imagine. But I need a moment to deliberate. To put into balance the good and the bad things we’ve been through. And after that, I will tell you my decision. Until then, you can consider yourself single. Good-bye!”
She left the restaurant and didn’t look back.
